About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from old vines in the central part of Asili, one of Barbaresco’s historic vineyards. Giovanni Roagna purchased the family’s 0.22 ha parcel in 1961. It lies at the heart of the historic Asili hillside, halfway up the slope, at 250 m above sea level with south-westerly exposure. Two roads divide the parcel into three sections: the upper bricco, the heart and the lower part.

The site lies near the rocche and follows the Pajé hill. Its soil originated through marine sedimentation around 70 million years ago. Calcareous clay is interlayered with veins of sand.

Grapes

Nebbiolo from old vines. The vines are of massal origin, propagated with material obtained while pruning vines within the same vineyard.

Ageing

Wines in the Vecchie Viti selection spend an average of five years ageing in wood and concrete.

Technical data

Production is highly limited, with the exact bottle total recorded on the label.
