About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Buriano is a historic growing area on the upper side of the Stielle vineyard. Its light, ventilation, high elevation and north/south exposure favor extended, complex ripening. The dedicated 2.2 ha Cabernet Sauvignon parcel lies at 550 m. Medium-textured soils contain abundant Alberese rock fragments and limestone veins. The vines are 15 years old, planted at 5,000 vines per hectare and managed with spur and cane pruning. Average yield is 1 kg per vine.

Grapes

100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification

Harvest takes place in the second half of October. Maceration lasts 10–12 days at approximately 28°C, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel.

Ageing

The wine matures for at least 18 months in barriques of various ages, then at least 6 months in stainless steel and 1 year in bottle.

Technical data

Annual production is approximately 7,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

The aroma combines ripe red fruit, black pepper and leather. Full-bodied and powerful on the palate, it carries enveloping, forceful tannins into a fresh finish that brings balance and elegance. Its style joins the roundness and breadth associated with a Bordeaux-inspired conception to the minerality and freshness of its Chianti terroir. It is intended for long ageing.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16°C with game, roasts or mature cheeses.

Label / history

Produced since 1985, Buriano began as a historic Bordeaux-style wine and is now presented as pure Cabernet Sauvignon from its dedicated parcel.
