About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from Vigna Vecchia and Vigna Eucalipti at Gavorrano in the province of Grosseto. The vineyards lie at 90 m a.s.l.; vines are trained to spurred cordon at 5,900 plants per hectare and yield 55 q/ha. Merlot is picked in late August, while Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon are harvested in mid-September. The wine page describes clay-rich, stony soil; the technical sheet describes a medium-textured soil rich in stones.

Grapes

60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot.

Vinification

Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is completed.

Ageing

Fourteen months in barriques, 80% of them new, are followed by 11 months in bottle.

Technical data

Label / history

This limited edition of Rocca di Frassinello’s first label commemorates two anniversaries: ten years since the inauguration of Renzo Piano’s winery in 2007 and forty years since the 1977 opening of Paris’s Beaubourg Museum, another of the architect’s works.
