About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on the slopes of Monte Garbi at 300 m above sea level. The soils are sandy and clay-rich, with numerous limestone layers.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from September to October, then dried for six months in specially ventilated rooms. They are not pressed; only the free-run juice is used. Fermentation lasts 40 days in oak barrels at a controlled temperature of 22–23 °C.
Ageing
The wine ages for three years in French oak barrels. During the first year, the lees are stirred every 15 days.
Tasting profile
Intensely flavoured.
Label / history
Recioto takes its name from rece, meaning “ears”, a reference to the grapes at the top of the bunch. Hanging above the other grapes, they accumulate the most sugar, nutrients and pigment and are selected for Recioto. The style developed as winemakers sought greater body and complexity from the blend. Argille Bianche is produced only in the best years.
