About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are located in the southeastern part of the Sella & Mosca estate, on iron-rich clay soils. These soils contribute distinctive complexity and depth.
Grapes
The blend comprises equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cannonau.
Vinification
Both varieties are harvested by hand at peak ripeness. Cannonau is picked in late September and Cabernet Sauvignon during the first ten days of October. After gentle pressing, they are cold-macerated separately for three days, then fermented in stainless-steel tanks at 22–24 °C. The varieties are blended only in the final stage of fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for approximately three years, initially in tanks and subsequently in large Slavonian oak casks at 15 °C. It then rests in bottle for a further six months before release.
Label / history
In the local Sardinian dialect, “Tanka Farra” means “iron lands”, referring to the iron-rich soils.
