About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Friulano comes from north-east-facing hillside vineyards in Friuli Colli Orientali, at 160 metres above sea level. The soils consist of marl and sandstone. Plantings date from 1963 to 2000, with densities ranging from 3,500 to 5,000 vines per hectare. The vines are trained using the Cappuccina system.
Grapes
100% Tocai Friulano.
Tasting profile
Deep yellow in colour. The broad, spicy nose offers citrus fruit, almond, exotic fruit, white-fleshed peach and white pepper. The palate is powerful and structured, with good acidity and harmonious complexity across its fruit and spice. The characteristic almond and exotic-fruit finish is notably persistent.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 8–10 °C. Traditionally enjoyed as an aperitif in Friuli, it pairs with prosciutto crudo, salami and other cured meats, as well as fish dishes and fresh, rich cheeses.
