About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes from well-exposed hillsides in the municipality of Barbaresco, Province of Cuneo, at elevations below 550 m. The soils are clay and limestone. The yield is 8 tonnes of grapes per hectare, corresponding to 54 hl of wine.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo, comprising the Lampia, Michet and Rosé varieties.
Vinification
Harvest takes place around the middle of October. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are conducted at controlled temperature using innovative techniques.
Ageing
The wine matures for 26 months in total, including nine months in Slavonian oak casks.
Technical data
Alcohol: 14% vol.
Tasting profile
Garnet red with orange reflections. The nose is intense and marked by violets. The palate is fine, soft, elegant, generous and pleasing, with a gentle, velvety character.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18–20 °C. Decant and allow the wine extended time to breathe. Pair with feathered game, roast meats and richly flavoured first courses, including pasta with ragù or game sauces.
Label / history
The wine takes its name from Barbaresco, a village near Alba on the Tanaro River. It is presented as a gentler, more velvety counterpart to Barolo and is made in limited quantities.
