About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vineyards lie around La Morra d’Alba in the Langhe of southwestern Piedmont. Nebbiolo is grown above 170 m on moderately calcareous ground rich in greyish-white quartz sand. The yield is 8 tonnes of grapes per hectare, corresponding to 54 hl of wine.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo, comprising the Lampia, Michet and Rosé varieties.

Vinification

Harvest takes place toward the end of October. Only the best grapes are selected through meticulous hand-picking and placed in 20 kg boxes. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are conducted at controlled temperature using innovative techniques.

Ageing

The wine matures for five years in total, including at least three years in Slavonian oak casks, followed by bottle ageing before release.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14% vol.

Tasting profile

Ruby and garnet red with orange nuances. The bouquet is intensely fruity and spicy, with liquorice notes. The palate is velvety, smooth and aromatic, without excessive tannins.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18–22 °C. Uncork and decant 3–4 hours before serving. Pair with braised meats, blue-veined cheeses, red meats and game.
