About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on limestone soils in the province of Taranto, Puglia, at an altitude of 100–150 metres. The area lies close to the Ionian and Adriatic seas. Summers are generally dry and hot, tempered by sea breezes, while winters are mild. Abundant sunshine supports the ripening of healthy, juicy and highly aromatic grapes.
Vinification
The grapes undergo one day of maceration before gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 14 °C. Malolactic fermentation is prevented to retain fresh acidity.
Tasting profile
Fresh, expressive and easy-drinking.
Label / history
The relatively young “12 e Mezzo” range was developed following research and tastings as an approachable alternative to classic Italian styles. Its name means “twelve and a half” in Italian and refers directly to the wines’ alcohol content. The range comprises four wines: Malvasia del Salento, Rosato, Primitivo and Negroamaro.
