About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are grown in Salento, in southern Italy, where the climate is dry and hot, moderated by refreshing sea breezes. The soils are reddish, their colour resulting from iron mixed with limestone and clay. Primitivo ripens early and can begin to dry out, losing acidity and aromatic freshness, if harvesting is delayed by only a few days.

Vinification

The winery team monitors the grapes closely and harvests them at optimal ripeness. Fermentation and maceration take place at a controlled temperature of 24–28 °C.

Ageing

The wine matures in American oak barrels for at least 12 months.

Tasting profile

Elegant and fruity on the nose, with a soft, well-balanced palate and spicy notes.

Label / history

The relatively young “12 e Mezzo” range was created following research and tastings. Its name means “twelve and a half” in Italian, referring directly to the wines’ alcohol level. The range comprises four wines: Malvasia del Salento, Rosato, Primitivo and Negroamaro.
