About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards of Friuli Isonzo are now the main source of Tenuta Villanova's production. The Isonzo River floodplain is made up of layers of sandstone (calcified sand) and gravel, which give the grapes natural freshness and minerality. The Chardonnay comes from vineyards planted on well-drained alluvial, gravelly soils.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. After fermentation the wine rests on its lees.
Ageing
Aged on its lees in stainless steel tanks for 4 months.
Tasting profile
A crystal-clear, classic expression of Chardonnay. Freshness and minerality from the Isonzo floodplain come through in the wine. It is very pleasurable to drink while retaining many of the grape's classic characteristics.
Label / history
