About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards of Friuli Isonzo are now the main source of grapes for Tenuta Villanova. The floodplain of the Isonzo River is made up of layers of sandstone (calcified sand) and gravel, which give the grapes natural freshness and minerality. The vines are planted on well-drained alluvial soils rich in gravel.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand.
Ageing
After fermentation the wine is aged on its lees in stainless steel tanks for 4 months.
Tasting profile
Very fresh, lively and fruity. Friulian Sauvignon Blanc is known for a light, fleeting style and for pairing well with food; some also call it a "loud" wine.
Label / history
The wine has been produced since 1975. It belongs to the separate "Villanova" range, which is devoted to showcasing the variety of Friuli Isonzo wines.
