About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in fertile volcanic soils on the slopes of Mount Vulture, at 450–700 m above sea level.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in September at optimal ripeness. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine spends six months on the lees in stainless steel tanks, followed by two months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Pale yellow with golden highlights. The bouquet is aromatic, intense and enveloping.
Label / history
In the Middle Ages, Lavello was known as “Labellum.” The town developed from a settlement around the Roman town of Forentum, and its name derives from the Latin “labrum,” meaning “barrel.”
