About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the winery’s vineyards on the slopes of Mount Vulture, at 450–700 metres above sea level. The soils are fertile and volcanic.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in September, once the small yellow-green berries develop brown spots indicating ripeness. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees in stainless-steel tanks for six months, followed by two months in bottle.
Tasting profile
The wine is aromatic.
Label / history
In the Middle Ages, Lavello was known as “Labellum.” The town developed from the Roman settlement of Forentum, and its name derives from the Latin “labrum,” meaning “barrel.”
