Vineyard and terroir

Preda is the estate’s monopole in the municipality of Barolo. The vineyard lies between 270 and 300 m, faces west and has pale Tortoniano soils with a tuffaceous matrix, white clay and sand. The vines are listed as 14 years old and clonally selected. They are trained to counter-trellis and pruned to medium-short Guyot, with an average density of 5,700 vines/ha; cluster thinning restricts the crop.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Fully ripe grapes are picked into perforated 20 kg boxes and rigorously sorted. The bunches spend 12 hours in a ventilated drying room to reduce moisture. Crushing is gentle to protect the skins, and stems are excluded from the must. Fermentation proceeds at controlled temperature with repeated delicate pump-overs.

Tasting profile

Bold ruby red. Plum preserve and mulberry lead the aromas, developing toward menthol and iodine notes. The palate is large-scaled and full-bodied, with clearly defined liquorice and ripe red-fruit flavours. The wine is presented as the wild, rural expression of Preda and the ancestral character of its land.

Label / history

Preda is described as a flagship of the estate, shaped by rigorous selection and attentive work from vineyard to cellar.
