Vineyard and terroir
The Nerello Mascalese is grown in the communes of Castiglione and Randazzo at 750 metres above sea level. The soil is deep, porous and rich in minerals, made of volcanic ash with traces of sand.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in October. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation both take place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine ages for 8 months in French oak barrels, then rests for 3 months in bottle in the winery's cellars.
Label / history
The name comes from Thalia, the daughter of Zeus and the muse of comedy and light poetry. In the Sicilian dialect, "thalia" also means "look over there!"
