Label / history
Amarone developed from the local tradition of Recioto, the sweet wine known since Roman times. Recioto was made from high-quality grapes selected on the vine and picked after slight natural withering. The development of grapes with less sugar enabled faster, more regular fermentation in which nearly all the sugar was converted into alcohol, giving rise to Amarone.
