Storia
1980s
In the early 1980s, Angiolino Maule and his wife, Rosamaria, bought land in the hills of Sorio di Gambellara and built their home and cellar there. Before this, the couple had worked as cooks in the family pizzeria for twelve years, before deciding to devote themselves to their long-standing passion for winegrowing.
1988
La Biancara was founded in 1988 by Angiolino and Rosamaria Maule. The estate's vineyards initially covered 6 ha, with many vines planted during those early years. From the beginning, the couple followed the principles of natural farming.
Later years
Over the years, the pursuit of quality and environmental integrity shaped Maule's work and outlook. Angiolino was later joined in the vineyard and cellar by his sons, Francesco and Alessandro. Together they built a new winery and acquired more vineyards, keeping the same spirit of exploration and commitment to making their wines better and more authentic. The estate now owns 11 hectares of vineyards and rents a further 4 ha, two of which are in the Berici Hills, where Grenache performs particularly well.
Terroir
The estate lies in the hills of Sorio di Gambellara. Two of the rented parcels are located in the Berici Hills, where Grenache performs particularly well.
Vinificazione
From the beginning, the Maule family has followed the principles of natural farming. The family works without interfering with natural processes, aiming for wines that remain as untouched as possible, while also making thoughtful use of research and new technology to maintain quality and protect the environment. The family also grows one hundred old olive and fruit trees, including cherry, fig, apricot, and peach.
