Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Scalabrone vineyard, whose alluvial loam soils contain stony deposits.
Vinification
Each variety is harvested and vinified separately according to its ripening time. The grapes are destemmed, gently crushed and briefly macerated in the press at a controlled low temperature for 2–4 hours. The must then ferments in stainless-steel tanks at 16 °C. The individual batches are tasted and assessed regularly before the final blend is assembled.
Tasting profile
Rich and fruit-driven, with a complex range of aromas and an easy-drinking character.
Serving and pairing
Suitable as an aperitif and with fish appetizers.
Label / history
The vineyard and wine take their name from Scalabrone, a bandit likened to a local Robin Hood who raided ships in the old harbour on the Bolgheri canal in the early 1800s.
