Vineyard and terroir

Tenuta Guado al Tasso lies on the Tuscan coast, 96 km southwest of Florence, in the hills surrounding the village of Bolgheri and extending towards the sea. Known as the Bolgheri Amphitheatre, the estate has 300 hectares of vineyards within its more than 1,000 hectares. The vineyards are situated at 45–60 metres above sea level. Proximity to the sea brings constant breezes, clear skies and abundant sunshine, helping the fruit retain freshness, lively acidity and generous aromas. The alluvial soils are rich in minerals and sand and contribute salty and subtly mineral notes.

Vinification

Each vineyard plot is harvested separately according to ripeness. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, then fermented in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 °C to preserve delicate floral and herbal notes.

Ageing

The wine ages in stainless-steel tanks, retaining aromatic clarity and freshness.

Tasting profile

Fresh, elegant and expressive, with citrus, herb and white-flower aromas. The palate is round and structured, with a touch of softness, lively acidity, a salty note and subtle minerality.

Vintage notes

Winter rain in Bolgheri continued until May in 2025, providing water reserves before a dry, warm summer. An even balance between dry and rainy periods brought ripening forward by about one week. Harvest took place relatively early, during the first half of September.

Label / history

This Vermentino has been produced at Guado al Tasso since 1994. The estate was formerly part of a feudal property of approximately 4,000 hectares extending for 7 km along the coast. It belonged to the Gherardesca family and was inherited in the 1930s by Carlotta Gherardesca Antinori, mother of Piero Antinori.
