Vineyard and terroir
The Chardonnay grows in elevated, east-facing vineyards high on the slopes of Erbusco, where the vines receive the first morning sun. Warm, sunny summer days alternate with cool nights, supporting ripeness while preserving acidity. Lake Iseo moderates these day-to-night temperature changes and helps maintain relatively stable conditions during the growing season. The well-drained soils are stony and mineral-rich, and the vines average at least 30 years of age. The wine is produced only in outstanding years.
Vinification
The wine follows the centuries-old blanc de blancs tradition and an old method developed in Franciacorta. Part of the must is vinified in small white-oak barrels; the remainder spends 6–7 months in stainless-steel tanks. The components are then blended and bottled.
Ageing
The barrel-vinified portion also matures in small white-oak barrels. After blending and bottling, the wine ages on its lees for around four years in the winery’s cellars. The complete process from harvest through bottle ageing lasts at least five years.
Tasting profile
The mousse is rich and the bubbles exceptionally fine. The nose is delicate and inviting, with flowers, ripe citrus fruit and hazelnuts. These notes continue on the palate, which is smooth and creamy, balancing ripe flavours with freshness. Lees ageing contributes notes of bread.
