Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is selected from old vines and vineyard sites chosen for their soils and exposures. Careful vineyard management in 2018 produced a more abundant harvest than expected.
Vinification
The grapes are carefully harvested and sorted. Primary fermentation takes place in small white-oak barrels, followed by secondary fermentation in the bottle using the traditional method.
Ageing
The wine spends 72 months in Bellavista’s cellars. During this period, the bottles are slowly riddled to collect the sediment into a compact plug. They are then disgorged and sealed with a cork and wire cage.
Tasting profile
The 2018 vintage combines structured depth with lively freshness. The layered nose opens with delicate floral notes, Mediterranean herbs and freshly baked pastry.
Serving and pairing
Suitable as an aperitif and adaptable to a broad range of dishes.
Vintage notes
From the final ten days of February through early March 2018, a severe cold spell caused temperatures to fall sharply, delaying vegetative development compared with the previous vintage. April brought noticeably warmer temperatures and no rain. June and July were unsettled, alternating between high temperatures and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall. The hottest conditions arrived in August, when temperatures reached 35 °C and above. Harvest ran from 22 August to 2 September 2018.
Label / history
Named for Bellavista’s founder, Vittorio Moretti, the wine is produced only in selected vintages.
