Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are grown in the municipality of Valdobbiadene, on deep soils composed of clay, marly sandstone and Miocene molasse.

Grapes

Glera is supplemented by a small proportion of Chardonnay.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested in late September. Fermentation takes place in pressurized tanks, initially at 20 °C to produce the bubbles and subsequently at 13–14 °C. The wine is then stabilized and filtered before sterile bottling.

Ageing

After bottling, the wine rests for 3–4 months in the winery’s cellars.

Tasting profile

The wine has a fresh, aromatic character.

Label / history

Umberto Bortolotti founded the winery in 1947, after graduating from the wine school in Conegliano. In 1954, the company moved to Valdobbiadene, where it remains. Its premises have since been renovated and expanded several times. Umberto’s son Bruno later followed him into the business. For more than 60 years, the winery has combined local traditions with modern technology.
