Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from hillside vineyards in Collio, in the far northeast of Italy, at 600–700 metres above sea level. The vines are planted at a density of 5,500 plants per hectare in marl soils layered with sandstone. The local soils and microclimate are particularly suited to the variety.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and taken to the winery. Part of the crop ferments in stainless-steel tanks, while 30% ferments in 500-litre oak barrels.
Ageing
The barrel-fermented portion is aged in the same 500-litre oak barrels. This time in oak adds aromatic complexity, including banana and pineapple notes. Further development in bottle brings softness, gentle sweetness and greater structure.
Tasting profile
The wine has a serious character. The nose opens with exotic fruit aromas. The palate is elegant, balanced and refreshing, with a pleasing structure and a broad range of fruit and mineral notes.
