Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie just beyond the southern boundary of the Brunello zone.
Grapes
Colorino is native to the Sant'Antimo area.
Vinification
The late harvest takes place by hand in mid-October. In the cellar, the bunches pass over several sorting tables, where stems, lower-quality berries and other unwanted material are removed. The selected berries are transferred to tanks and fermented in stainless-steel vats for 12–18 days. The winemaking combines innovative and traditional methods.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12 months in Slavonian oak. Sangiovese matures in large 48 and 72 hl casks, while Colorino is kept in smaller 6 hl barrels.
Tasting profile
The blend combines Sangiovese’s strong personality and character with Colorino’s easy-drinking quality. Its flavour is deep and was expected to develop further nuances through 2013.
