Storia
Family roots\nThe Casetta family has lived in Vezza d'Alba, in the heart of Roero, since 1725. Grape growing and winemaking have always been part of family life there, with knowledge passed down from one generation to the next.\n\n### Present-day winery\nToday the winery, Casa Vinicola Fratelli Casetta, operates with modern technology, including a Cold Technologies system to control fermentation temperature. The family regards winemaking as a long process, sometimes taking many years, that combines the qualities of the grape varieties with innovative production methods.
Terroir
The winery's vineyards lie across the hills of Langhe and Roero. Many occupy south-facing sites, at elevations of 200 to 400 meters above sea level.
Vinificazione
Machinery use is limited to tractors for working the soil between the rows; weeds are removed by hand. Only organic fertilizers are used, in order to preserve the authenticity of the finished product and protect underground water reserves from changes. Pruning and thinning are carried out by hand.
The winery uses modern technology during vinification, with temperature carefully controlled through the Cold Technologies system, considered essential by the family for ideal fermentation. All aging barrels are made exclusively from oak, while barriques are used for only a small proportion of the wines. Winemaking is treated as a long process requiring patience and technical skill, sometimes over many years, to bring together the best qualities of the grape varieties with innovative production methods.
