Vineyard and terroir
Valpolicella lies north of Verona. The name comes from "val polis cellae", meaning "valley of many cellars", since the area has been known for its wines for many centuries. Most of the company's wines are produced within Gruppo Cantine Colli Berici, whose vineyards cover around 4,000 ha. The Colli Berici are a range of hills of ancient volcanic origin between Verona and Padua. The climate there is very mild and sunny, similar to the Mediterranean, and grape growing has flourished for thousands of years.

Label / history
Cielo E Terra was founded in 1908. Its name combines terra, Italian for earth, with Cielo, the surname of the founding family. Pietro Cielo began expanding and improving production in 1930, and in 1962 the company acquired new vineyards and increased its output. The winery is now run by the fourth-generation brothers Luca and Pierpaolo Cielo. It owns around 300 ha of land and is one of Veneto's largest producers. It belongs to Gruppo Cantine Colli Berici, a group of Italian winemakers with around 4,000 ha of vineyards. With support from the group's winemakers, the estate takes part in a project to improve every stage of winegrowing and production in the Colli Berici area, from vineyard to bottle.
