Storia
Early 20th century\nThe estate that would become Colle Santa Mustiola belonged to Fabio Cenni's grandfather.\n\n### Late 1980s\nFabio Cenni decided to take an active role in restoring and developing the estate.\n\n### Cellar restoration\nThe cellar, built on the site of an ancient Etruscan tomb, was restored by Fabio Cenni himself with the help of a group of enthusiastic friends. The excavations uncovered ancient objects that are now displayed in the cellar.
Terroir
The winery sits on a hill with a view of Lake Chiusi. The climate is warm and well suited to Sangiovese, and the soils are mineral-rich and able to retain moisture for a long time.
Vinificazione
Sangiovese selection experiments have produced 28 different types growing in the vineyards. Yields are kept low because the focus is on grape quality rather than volume.
The cellar was built on the site of an ancient Etruscan tomb. Fabio Cenni restored it himself with the help of a group of enthusiastic friends, and it now displays ancient objects discovered during the excavations. An underground network of connected tunnels naturally maintains a balance of temperature and humidity. Colle Santa Mustiola makes just three wines: the rosé "Kernos" and the reds "Vigna Flavia" and "Poggio Ai Chiari."
Filosofia
Fabio Cenni describes making wine with love and respect for his land. He personally stands behind the quality of his three wines, each of which he says reflects respect for his home and its traditions, along with his wholehearted dedication to the work he loves.
