Vineyard and terroir

Bianco is produced from younger Viognier vines in four parcels extending over 5 hectares in the Manzano hills of Cortona. The vineyards lie at 290 metres above sea level on clay-and-sand soils. Planting years are 2003, 2005 and 2015, with densities ranging from 4,500 to 7,500 vines per hectare. Both cordon-spur and Guyot training are used. The wine is certified organic by QCertificazioni.

Grapes

100% Viognier.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested at the end of August and pressed directly. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel.

Ageing

The wine matures for six months in stainless steel.

Technical data

Toscana IGT. Annual production is approximately 22,000 bottles. The first vintage was 2010.

Tasting profile

A crystalline, fresh and floral Viognier with pronounced minerality. Acidity, crispness and aromatic fragrance are balanced, while the palate recalls jasmine, aniseed and wild fennel. The style is approachable and intended for easy drinking.
