Vineyard and terroir

Rosato comes from early-harvested Syrah grown in two parcels of the Pozzo Vecchio vineyard in the Manzano hills of Cortona. Together the parcels cover 3 hectares at 290–300 metres above sea level. They were planted in 1999 and 2001 on clay-and-sand soils, at a density of 7,500 vines per hectare, and are cordon-spur trained. The wine is certified organic by QCertificazioni.

Grapes

100% Syrah.

Vinification

Harvest takes place at the end of August. The grapes remain in contact with their skins for eight hours before gentle pressing, a method intended to retain freshness and primary aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel.

Ageing

The wine matures for six months in stainless steel.

Technical data

Toscana IGT. Annual production is approximately 10,000 bottles. The first vintage was 2018.

Tasting profile

Very pale pink in colour, with bright acidity and fresh yet delicate aromas of rose, pomegranate, bergamot and citrus. The finish carries a peppery note.
