Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Kreda vineyard at the Le Ronche estate, where clay is the principal soil component. The vines were planted in 1986. The vineyard is farmed organically, without irrigation; short pruning, annual green harvesting, summer pruning and careful leaf thinning help limit yields and bring the grapes to full ripeness.
The climate is mild, with very little rainfall and high summer temperatures. A marked difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures helps preserve acidity and aroma.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the second half of September and carefully selected. They are partially dried, destemmed and crushed, then undergo extended, temperature-controlled maceration in cement tanks with frequent pumping over, followed by fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in new 225-litre French oak barriques, followed by 12 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Bright in appearance, it combines power with balance. The elegant nose offers cherry and tobacco, while the palate is fruity and savoury, with a touch of spice.
Serving and pairing
Pair with meat dishes.
Label / history
