The first documented record of local wines dates to this year, made by Cosimo III de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. At the time, the hilly, densely wooded Carmignano area served as hunting grounds for the Medici family.
1925
Fattoria di Bacchereto came into the ownership of the Bencini Tesi family, who have held it since.
2001
Maria Rossela Bencini took charge of the estate and has managed it according to biodynamic principles since this year.
Terroir
The estate lies in the hills of Carmignano, in the province of Prato. Its soils are composed of limestone and clay, well suited to both grapevines and olive trees. The area was historically hilly and densely wooded, once serving as hunting grounds for the Medici family.
Vinificazione
The estate has been managed according to biodynamic principles since 2001, under Maria Rossela Bencini, who holds that winemakers should respect what nature provides and try not to interfere with its natural course.
