Storia
Origins
The history of Castello di Bolgheri can be traced back to around 1500, although some studies date it to the 13th century. The castle was once owned by the Counts della Gherardesca.
18th and 19th Centuries
In the second half of the 18th century the castle was restored and rebuilt, and its cellars were added during this period. In 1895 the façade was redesigned with crenellated towers that remain today.
Change of Ownership
The castle and surrounding land later passed from Countess Franca Spalletti Trivelli-Gherardesca to the family of Count Zileri Dal Verme.
