Terroir
Casa di Terra's vineyards lie in the Bolgheri region, along the Tuscan coast, within the municipality of Castagneto Carducci. Hills to the east shelter the vineyards from winds and cold winter weather, while sea breezes soften and refresh the climate in summer. Sunshine is described as one of the defining features of the terroir: plenty of sunny days combined with heat balanced by coastal breezes allow the grapes to ripen on time every year.
The soils are described as complex and varied, made up of river pebbles, marine and wind-borne deposits, limestone, and volcanic rock, forming terraces that run from the hills down to the coast. The vineyards themselves cover 45 hectares across four sites within the Bolgheri DOC area, in the municipality of Cecina.
Vinificazione
Each vineyard is managed individually according to its specific soil and climate conditions, given the diversity of terrain across the four sites. Bolgheri is described as producing a healthy harvest of fully ripe grapes each year, rich in polyphenols, tannins, pigment, and aromatic and flavor compounds, with quality confirmed by laboratory analysis.
Filosofia
The winery describes Bolgheri's terroir, particularly its sunshine, as one of its defining and distinctive features, noting that well-known international grape varieties have found a new home there and developed their own distinctive character.
