Vintage notes
The winter preceding the 2016 growing season was mild, with heavy rain in February. Budbreak occurred in the first week of April, followed by flowering in the last week of May under sunny conditions favourable to fruit set. The summer remained generally mild, with no extreme heat and some light rain. Ripening was slow and even, aided by pronounced day-to-night temperature differences before harvest. Harvest began in late September in mild weather with similarly marked temperature changes, and the grapes reached optimal ripeness.
The 2016 vintage placed 12th in Wine Spectator’s 2021 Top 100.
