Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Bianco is grown in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini region. The vineyards are situated around 80 m above sea level on limestone soils covered by thin layers of chalk, and the vines average 10 years of age. The estate is in Signa, several dozen kilometres from central Florence, where the microclimate is warm.
Vinification
The wine undergoes fermentation before ageing.
Ageing
It rests in oak barrels for 20–24 months.
Tasting profile
The 2010 vintage is full, rich and smooth, with an elegant fruity aroma.
Label / history
The label bears the motto “Ad majora ad majora,” translated in the source as “Everything is for the best!” Enrico Fossi names each of his wines and designs an individual label using sayings, quotations and aphorisms intended to reflect its history and character. The winery owns 12 ha of vineyards and produces 30,000–50,000 bottles annually, with output varying according to weather and the harvest from each vineyard.
