Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie around Ortona on Abruzzo’s Adriatic coast. They face south-east and are planted on mixed clay and limestone soils, with vines trained to both Guyot and Pergola systems.
Grapes
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Vinification
Harvest takes place at the beginning of October. The fruit is softly destemmed and crushed, followed by approximately six hours of skin contact. Fermentation then proceeds without the skins for 15 days at 12°C.
Tasting profile
Bright cherry-pink in colour. The nose is intense, persistent and delicately fruity, with strawberry and other small red-fruit notes. The palate is medium-bodied, intense and balanced, with a soft, rounded texture and a notably long finish. Best enjoyed young.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 10–12°C. Pair with raw shellfish, vegetarian dishes, fresh cheeses, Asian dishes and white meats.
