Vineyard and terroir
The Perricone is grown at Grisi, Monreale, in clay soils, with an average yield of 75 quintals per hectare. Feudo Disisa’s approximately 150 ha of vineyards are divided among nine microzones with different aspects, slopes and elevations. Temperature changes, plentiful sunshine and good airflow create distinct microclimates.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place at a controlled 25–27 °C, followed by 15 days of maceration. The wine completes malolactic fermentation before being transferred to barriques.
Ageing
The wine spends at least one year in barriques, followed by approximately 60 days in the estate’s cellars after bottling.
Tasting profile
Bright, juicy and fresh.
Label / history
The name Granmassenti was inspired by the Sicilian folk legend “Lu Bancu di Disisa,” concerning a mysterious treasure hidden in a cave on the Feudo Disisa estate that was never found.
