Storia
Origins\nThe Di Lorenzo family, originally from England, came to Sicily under King Roger and settled in the Val di Noto area. In the late 1600s, part of the family moved to Gibellina.\n\n### The Marquisate and the Fief of Disisa\nIn 1803, Nicola Di Lorenzo was granted the title of Marquis of Castelluccio. In 1867, a few years after the Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed, Archpriest Santi Di Lorenzo, a keen agricultural enthusiast, bought the former fief of Disisa and left it to his nephew Nicolò Di Lorenzo, a former mayor of Gibellina and member of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Italy.\n\n### Mario Di Lorenzo and the First Cellar\nIn the 1930s, Nicolò's son Mario Di Lorenzo earned a degree in Agriculture from the University of Portici and began devoting all his time to the family estate. He immediately decided to plant 150 ha of vineyards and 70 ha of olive groves, and began building the first cellar for producing blended wines. It was completed in 1935, when the first vintage of bulk wines was produced for the markets of northern Italy and France.\n\n### Experimentation and Modernization\nIn 1982, working with the Regional Institute of Vine and Wine, the family planted its first experimental vineyard with Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. In 1987, the company became the first registered producer to plant Chardonnay vineyards in Sicily. The Feudo Disisa brand was created in 1998, and in 2004 a new cellar opened, equipped with the most advanced technology available on the market.\n\n### Today\nThe estate is led by Renato Di Lorenzo, supported by his wife Maria Paola and their two children, Laura and Mario, who are personally involved in both the day-to-day life of the company and its commercial activities.
