Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from approximately 3 ha of vineyards distributed among the municipalities of La Morra, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto. Plantings date from 1980 to 1990. Soils differ by location: Barolo and Castiglione Falletto have sandy soils of varying compactness interspersed with sandstone, while the La Morra sites contain more clay and a calcareous component.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo da Barolo.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled cement or stainless-steel tanks. Contact with the skins lasts 25–30 days. Following racking, the separate lots are assembled before ageing.

Ageing

The assembled wine matures for approximately three years in traditional large-format Slavonian oak casks with a capacity of 5,000 L. Refinement continues in bottle, allowing the wine to gain elegance and harmony and supporting its capacity for long ageing.

Tasting profile

The bouquet is ethereal, broad and enveloping. The palate is austere and savoury.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–17 °C. The available format is a 0.75 L bottle.
