From the late 14th century\nThe Venerose-Peccioline family settled in the village of Ghizzano at the end of the 14th century, where they grew grapes and olives and farmed the land.\n\n### The 1980s\nThe area produced unremarkable table wines whose prices barely covered the costs of making them. Many owners sold their estates or cleared their vineyards. In this period Pier Francesco decided to take a completely different approach and produce high-quality wines.\n\n### 2003 onwards\nTenuta di Ghizzano has practiced organic winemaking since 2003 and biodynamic winemaking since 2006. In 2008 the estate received Suolo e Salute certification. Its wines are now popular and successful, and their quality has been recognized by well-known wine critics.

Filosofia
In the 1980s Pier Francesco chose to abandon low-value table wine and aim at producing high-quality wines, a course the estate has followed with organic and biodynamic practice.
