Storia
Origins
The Almondo family has appeared in the municipal records of Montà, an Italian commune long known for good harvests of peaches, strawberries and asparagus, since the fourteenth century.
Founding the winery
Giovanni Almondo was founded in 1980, when Domenico Almondo, Giovanni Almondo's son, completed his studies in agricultural sciences and decided to turn the family's small farm into a winery.
Vineyard development
The first Nebbiolo vines were planted in the early 1990s.
New facility
In 2015, the company opened a new facility equipped with advanced technology for every stage of production.
Terroir
The winery is located in Montà, a commune long known for good harvests of peaches, strawberries and asparagus. The 18 hectares of vineyards lie on some of Piedmont's best sites. Arneis ripens on acidic clay-limestone soils in the southern part of the region, while Nebbiolo grows in sandy soils with a high limestone content.
Vinificazione
In 2015, the company opened a new facility equipped with advanced technology for every stage of production. The cellar is kept at a constant temperature of 15°C.
Filosofia
The wines are made to reflect both the natural character of each grape variety and the qualities of its particular terroir.
