Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from selected parcels within the cellar's established Pinot Noir areas at 380–530 m. In Oltradige, the vines grow in morainic deposits over volcanic porphyry. The west-facing hillside parcels in Bassa Atesina have loamy limestone soils. Their geological and microclimatic characteristics make the sites particularly suited to Pinot Noir.
Grapes
Pinot Noir.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand and delivered in small containers to avoid crushing. After destemming, gravity carries the must into stainless-steel tanks for a 20–22-day alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation follows.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months, with 70% held in barriques and 30% in 12 hl wooden barrels. It then spends six months in large oak vessels and a further six months in bottle.
