Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow at 450–500 metres above sea level. The vines are 30 years old on average.
Grapes
The wine is made from several clones of Pinot Nero.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the second half of September. Fermentation takes place for two weeks in open oak vats, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12–14 months in oak barriques, 25% of which are new.
Label / history
The winery was officially established in 1870. Ignaz Niedrist began bottling and selling wine in 1989 after inheriting the family vineyards. The estate produces 25,000–30,000 bottles annually.
