Vineyard and terroir
The estate’s 5.5 ha of densely planted vineyards lie at the foot of the Dolomites, at about 800 m above sea level. The pronounced difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures contributes to aromatic, rich and well-balanced wines.
Grapes
Kerner, sometimes called the maiden grape, is named after the doctor and poet I. Kerner. Its juicy berries have a delicate Muscat note and readily accumulate sugar.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and macerated on their skins for six hours. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 20 °C.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees in stainless-steel tanks for six months.
Label / history
The Kerschbaumer family has owned the small Tenuta Köfererhof estate since 1940. The family began bottling its own wines in 1995, after previously supplying grapes. The current owner is Günther Kerschbaumer.
