Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from an organic vineyard in Novacella, at 650 m, on gravelly limestone soils. Kofererhof’s vineyards extend over 5.5 ha at the foot of the Dolomites in the Isarco Valley, generally at around 800 m. Wide day–night temperature differences at this altitude contribute to aromatic, rich and balanced fruit from closely planted vines.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 18–22 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures for six months in stainless steel, with a small portion aged in 30 hL oak barrels.
Tasting profile
Clean, fresh and crisp, with abundant rich, savoury aromas.
Label / history
The estate has an eight-century history and has passed through many owners. The Kerschbaumer family has owned it since 1940. Kofererhof began bottling its own wines in 1995; before then, it supplied grapes to other producers.
