Vineyard and terroir
The Chardonnay grows in one of the oldest vineyards overlooking Lake Iseo, in a favourable microclimate.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-harvested into small crates in the second half of August, then sorted and gently pressed in low-pressure pneumatic presses. The first fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, while 25% of the must ferments in lightly toasted barriques. The second fermentation occurs in the bottle at low pressure.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees for at least 28 months.
Tasting profile
Smooth and dry, with a distinctly creamy, soft and silky texture. The barrique-fermented portion contributes an elegant, refined character and delicate vanilla notes. Fine bubbles complement the Chardonnay’s rich, smooth texture.
Label / history
“Satèn” is a trademark registered by the Franciacorta Consortium for wines undergoing their second fermentation in the bottle at lower pressure.
