Vineyard and terroir

Campè lies in Grinzane Cavour (CN). The 3.5-hectare vineyard has a southern exposure at 280 m a.s.l. and vines averaging 70 years of age. Its alluvial soil is distinguished by a calcareous-clayey mantle.

Vinification

The general production method combines maceration and alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled vats for an average of 14–15 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels.

For the 2019 vintage, maceration and alcoholic fermentation lasted approximately 14 days in temperature-controlled vats. Malolactic fermentation was completed in French oak.

Ageing

The general profile specifies at least 18 months in French oak, with 20% new barrels and the balance in second-passage wood, followed by bottle refinement. The 2019 technical sheet records 24 months in French oak, with 30% new barrels and the remainder second passage, followed by approximately eight months in bottle.

Technical data

The 2019 vintage has 14.5% alcohol and total acidity of 5.2 g/L. It was released in 750 ml and Magnum formats. Average production is 7,000 bottles, with approximately 400 magnums produced each year.

Tasting profile

The broad aromatic profile moves from rose petals through plum and dark berries to white truffle and underbrush. Its tannic structure is firm yet harmonious, leading to a full, powerful finish.

The 2019 vintage is pale ruby red. Blackcurrant jam, white pepper and caramel shape the bouquet. The palate is powerful and structured, with elegant peppermint and incense notes; the finish is mineral and intense, supported by rich tannins.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–17 °C in a Burgundy glass.
