Vineyard and terroir
The Riserva is selected from the finest bunches grown in the Campè vineyard at Grinzane Cavour (CN). Campè covers 3.5 hectares, faces south at 280 m a.s.l. and has vines averaging 70 years of age. The soil is alluvial, with a calcareous-clayey mantle.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The shared Campè production profile specifies maceration and alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled vats for an average of 14–15 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak.
Ageing
The Riserva is aged for at least ten years. The shared Campè profile describes French oak barrels, 20% new and the remainder second passage, although a separate Riserva-specific breakdown is not given.
Technical data
Approximately 400 magnums are produced annually.
Tasting profile
The Campè profile spans rose petals, plum and dark berries, followed by white truffle and underbrush. Firm, harmonious tannins carry a full and powerful finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–17 °C in a Burgundy glass.
