Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the San Lorenzo area of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where the vineyards lie at 60 metres above sea level on gravelly soils containing some limestone. The vines average more than 30 years old and are planted at 5,200 vines per hectare. The vineyard is managed with organic fertilisers and integrated plant-health protection.
Grapes
The blend comprises 40% Gewürztraminer, 40% Pinot Grigio and 20% Riesling. Pinot Grigio supplies structure, softness and warmth; Gewürztraminer contributes the aromatic character; and Riesling balances the wine with acidity while adding flavour complexity.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested late by hand, with careful bunch selection. Vinification takes place at 20–22 °C in 500-litre French oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine remains in barrel for 11 months, with frequent bâtonnage, followed by a further 25–27 months in stainless-steel tanks and bottles.
Tasting profile
A mature white wine with naturally integrated aromas and flavours, balancing softness and warmth with acidity, aromatic intensity and complexity.
